Snakes in a Car!

On Friday (27/02/09) we had an interesting visit from the police. "Could we please spare ten minutes as there is a snake wrapped around the axel of a car in Leeds city centre!" By the time we got there the snake had relocated into the engine compartment. Ten minutes were then spent searching (us for the snake, the police for the car's owner) to no avail. If the owner had started the car it would have meant injury or death for the poor snake, so the officers (quite eagerly) broke into the vehicle so we could open the bonnet. The corn snake (not king cobra as reported in some press!) was visible in the wing panel of the car. After removing the grill and headlamp, we were able to remove the corn. The snake is now doing well in our quarantine section, probably less traumatised than the cars owner who thought it had been stolen.
